About 

Hi, I'm Made ("ma-they"), and I'm passionate about food and wine. I live in Bali and have been working in the hospitality industry for more than twenty years. This is my space where I share stories from my journey, with a special focus on the world of wine, food pairings, and my experiences. Join me as I explore the flavors, techniques, and tales that shape my love for food and wine, and perhaps my life on the island, of Bali.

My journey into the world of wine and spirits began many years ago in a work setting, where I was introduced to wines; its fascinating complexity of flavors, regions, and production methods. What started as a curiosity quickly turned into a passion, leading me to pursue formal education in the field. I earned my WSET  Level 3 Award in Wines and Level 2 Award in Spirits, which deepened my knowledge and broadened my perspective on the industry. Along the way, I faced challenges, but each one only strengthened my appreciation for the craft. Now, with certifications under my belt, I’m excited to continue learning and sharing my discoveries with others who are equally intrigued by the world of wine.

 

Most importantly, I gained so much confidence in meeting new people from all corners of the wine and hospitality industry, allowing me to share endless conversations about food and wine. Today, I not only continue to learn and grow but also help guide young sommeliers and students who are eager to pursue their careers in wine

Belajar Wine is my "baby" – a project dedicated to raising wine awareness among hospitality students and wine lovers in Bali. It’s a love-hate journey (for me) and many people don’t know where to begin when it comes to learning about wine. But that makes it exciting — introducing them to a world they’ve yet to explore.

I love learning, and the journey has been truly fascinating. I’ll see you around, and in the meantime, cheers!
